About Us
About Project GEM
Project Getting Employed Matters (GEM) aims to help job seekers in East Coast with holistic support by guiding and supporting them throughout their job-seeking journey and ensuring lower income residents receive social assistance beyond jobs. It is a ground-up initiative among community collaborators including grassroots organisations in East Coast GRC, South East Community Development Council (SECDC), Tao One Ltd and with complementary career and training advisory service provided by WSG at their SGUJSC.
Tao One Ltd, through their networks of potential employers will be pulling together available jobs and refer residents to them.
To further support our residents’ job search efforts, we will work closely with WSG’s SGUnited Jobs and Skills Centre at Kampong Chai Chee Community Club to provide career and training advisory services. WSG’s Career Ambassadors stationed there will also help residents who require more in-depth and tailored career coaching services to make an appointment at WSG’s Careers Connect.
Residents who need financial help temporarily while looking for a job may also be referred to community assistance schemes and programmes such as the ComCare Short-to-Medium-Term Assistance Scheme. Upon successful job emplacements, South East CDC will support Project GEM applicants with transport allowance of up to $100/month for a period of three months, subject to qualifying criteria, as they start their employment.
Through this holistic support network, we want to ensure that residents receive the support they need to pull through this period.
